The Kharkov International Airport is the international airport that serves the city. Kharkov is served by this international airport which used to have about 20 flights a day, almost all of them being passenger flights. The Kharkov Osnova International Airport was only recently granted international status. The airport itself is not big and is situated within the city boundaries, south from the city centre. Construction of the new passenger terminal at the Kharkov International airport is scheduled for September 2010. It should be reminded that the renovation project stipulates extension of the runway by 2,470 meters. This will allow handling of Airbus as well as Boeing types of aircraft. Also, a new terminal complex of 20,000 square meters is to be erected.
